They were in New York
I'm sorry but most of the auditions were AWFUL... This city is supposed to have great broadway singers and stuff... not last night!
They began with this flaming gay white dude who didn't sing but spoke the words. I can't remember the song it was so not memorable. Security had to escort him out cause he started on the offensive towards Simon because he called his performance rubbish and basically cuz he was brit.
I don't what it was with the sistas last night... they were BEGGING to go to hollywood. The first had made it to Hollywood twice and couldn't cut it. She tried again singing "Loving you" by Minnie, she sang it okay but she had that old school feel to it and they told her that was her niche and Carol Sager advised she try broadway. Girl wouldn't accept no! She kept drama going and whining and asking what could she do and Simon ended it by breaking her face... I forgot what he said, but she was broken.
This other sista was happy go lucky in good spirits she sang "Dancin' in the Streets" Martha and the Vendellas. And she was going to town partying. It sounded okay, then... they weren't sure so they asked her to sing another, I don't know what the song was, it was slow but she was OFF bigtime throughout most of the song, they were quiet because they figured out she wasn't as good as they thought. Then had to tell her no... girl was heartbroken then went towards the door and started beggin and cryin sayin she had people backing her wanting her to go to hollywood and please could she go they had break her to put HER out. I was like WTF???
This white chick went in there on a protest for people who can't sing saying why can't a nonsinger be an American Idol! WTH???
The Coup de Grace was this white chick kind of a throw back from Fleetwood Mac/Stevie Nicks with a Pakistani feel. The girl was AWFUL. She sang "Lady Marmalade" she moaned most of the song saying vous le vous coo shay latte, you know, the coffee? They asked her when she sings what do people do, she had all kinds of reactions bein thrown out and stuff. Then had the nerve to say she sang with Parliament saying they didn't see anything wrong! Needless to say she got into a huff when they turned her down.
They are supposed to got to Alabama next... Whew!

There was one sista that had me crying laughing. She was soooo dramatic. “I think you’re making a mistake” “Was it my pitch?” “Was it my tone?” “Tell me what you want from me” Her voice was so theatrical; I thought she was going to break out with some Shakespeare. Then they had the nerve to start playing soap opera music. That was too damn funny. And Simon, I’m sorry, he is hilarious. When the two white chicks who were best friends made it, he told the one girl who was clearly better but wouldn’t admit it that she has to learn to kick people when they are down.

Yeah the drama queen was a mess... I felt sorry for her she just wasn't getting it. They already gave her two chances and she still wasn't knocking their socks off. What about that chick that did all of the exercising and trying to be a Mary J Blige wanna be? They accepted her but I don't think she will be able to cut it. She's got too much attitude in my opinion. Look, sing I don't want to hear what your issue is.

The Memphis episode was hilarious. This 16-year-old gal came on there trying to sing Ashanti's "Oh Baby." Simon said, "I'm sorry, I couldn't understand a word you said. Who are you trying to sound like?" She said she tried to sound like Ashanti. Simon said "oh no you're not." Randy and Paula were telling her the same thing and she started singing again.....I was like "hell naw."

Has anybody been watching?
The top 24 are singing now. The night before the guys sang and to me the only one that got my attention was the fat white dude, Chris Sligh the one that cracked back as Simon when he critiqued him. The guys really need to come out of the box because as of now 5 out of the 12 girls are definite foreces to be reckoned with.
Funny thing is I agreed with all of the critiques Simon made and on some he did go over the top and broke a couple of faces.
I'm a little biased here, the sistas rocked the house! My favorite is Melinda Doolittle, that is not to say that Stephanie, Sabrina, Jordin and Lakisha weren't as good, I just like Melinda's style. That phone line is a joke They said the lines would be open 2 hours and of course they weren't. On Thursday 4 people have to hit the road.

Let me tell you something the next AI will be female... let's just get that out.
This week the guys did try to step up the game but the last 3 actually caught my attention. The two brothers are doing OKAY but nothing over the top . One sang "Let's get it on" and the other "Time after time". I think the white boyz had them on this one. They are good singers but need to step it up a little more. The girls yesterday in my opinion slowed it way down. Lakisha, one of the hard hitters, should have picked another song instead of "Midnight train to Georgia," Stephanie sounded too much like Beyonce with "Dangerously in love" and Jordin sang something from the Mulan soundtrack it didn't blow me away either. Sabrina came back with Whitney it was okay she got a little pitchy. My girl Melinda brought her stuff tho' the thing about this is she sang "My Funny Valentine" delivery, phrasing, pitch and confidence EXCELLENT! Dat's my girl! Dem white girls are DROWNING amongst this talent of sistas. The judges ate them for lunch except for Paula of course. Let's face it, those girls are not in that caliber. Not saying that white girls can't sing the first white chick that won testifies to that but they don't have the extra needed to win especially on talent. They may win because of what they look like (white) and the American beauty which is changing by the way and thank goodness) and that is the unfortunate reality that the sistas MAY have to face, popularity really starts to shine in the end. I realize Fantasia is an exception to rule, dang, she sang the other day and I see why she won. If one of those white girls in that line up win. I will stop watching.

If El Debarge and Pocahontas could have a child, this is what it would look like: WHY IS THIS YOUNG "MAN" STILL ON IDOL?

I'll tell you why my mom! She loves him. I for one don't understand why. Barberella/Antonella needs to go too.

Once again this week the dudes tried but hopelessly only made a lukewarm impression upon the judges. Chris Sligh, Brandon (brotha) , #4 and Sundance were probably the strongest. The other young brotha sang a good Stevie song but still did not distinguish himself. Song choice! Song choice! Song choice! Sanjaya sang a sorry rendition of "Waiting on the World to change," it was awful. If he doesn't go this week America seriously needs hearing aids.

Sweetie, I don't know what's up with the guys. I would love to be able to go back and watch the auditions because these men are just not bringing it.
I think every gay man in America is voting for Sanjay. I have no idea what he's still doing in the competition.
Right now, my favorites are the brotha with the fro and Chris Sligh. But over all the men are boring.
Can't wait to see the ladies tonight.
