I am suppose to go home to San Francisco next weekend to see my aunt who has brain, lung, liver cancer. Because I just started a new job, I am only going for the weekend until I know (and see) how much needs to be done. Due to such limited time, I decided to fly but I am terrified of flying
Everytime I look at airline reservations, my stomach knots up.

I pray that she gets along OK. I also had an aunt who had brain cancer and it's tough to say the least. Just pray and ask God to keep you safe during your travels. When you think about it, there are THOUSANDS of flights every single day. It's such a very small number that has problems. You will be fine. Please let us know how your aunt is doing.

Thank you. I'll be going up next weekend. I was planning on leaving my sons at home with their father and he's trying to send them with me. I won't have time to deal with them or take them anywhere as my attention will be focused on my aunt. She's doing the chemo now, but honesty she isn't going to make it - it's just a matter of time. My mom says she is down to about 80-less than 100 pounds and my cousin who was just there to help sai d she is in her last days.

Well I am here in San Francisco and I came in on Friday morning. I drove and did pretty good time - left at 4am and arrived at 9am. While I was expecting the worst she is doing ok. Very small and all of her hair is gone (she looks like my grandmother which I never noticed before). My mom is even more tiny and makes me realize that she isn't in the best of health as well.
I leave tomorrow in the late afternoon and it will be very hard to do. I plan on coming back in the next few weeks again and as much as needed.
On the lighter side, her and my mother are a trip. They talk sh*t about each other, but you see how dependant they are on each other. Forgetful, mean and all - complaining one minute and giving praises the next. Interesting. My momma hides stuff from herself and gets mad. She goes down her list of suspects that have taken her stuff only to find it and have that silly expression on her face. My aunt is playing this to the hilt - wanting to be waited on hand and foot.
I got to get back to the house and I'll talk to you folks later.
Happy Super Bowl!!!

That sounds just like my mother and her sisters. Safe travels on your home. I'll keep you all in my prayers.

It is nice to hear you are in better spirits. Do what you need to do and don't let him stop you from helping them. You won't regret it.

DaRock I didn't fly. I rented myself a phat Infinity G35 and drove up. I guess you could say I flew couldn't you?LOL
I am back now and my aunt is doing so so. She started the second round of chemo and has the usual side effects of fatigue, sick, etc. We dealt with a little bit of the property issue and what she wants done with it and she talked to me about her will.
She has me and a cousin designated to handle her estate. My cousin is planning on going up at the end of March (I personally don't think that we'll have that kind of time), but if she seems to be holding well, that's when I'll go up to work on some more of her financial stuff.

Sunflower, I'm glad to hear all went well or as well as can be expected. Taking care of a loved one's estate can get so crazy. Usually, financial matters bring out the worst in those who are left behind. I hope everything goes smoothly when the times comes. Again, your aunt and your family are in my prayers.

Thank you. Your right about the ugly coming out - I've seen it with some friends of mine. Right now my biggest "ugly" unfortunately is my mother. My aunt has a very prime piece of property and there was someone (asian guy) trying to get her to sell. She's made it clear that it's not going to be sold - she wants to hold on to it and see if someone wants to try and take it on in the family. Honestly I want to try and get it..............and keep it. I called her the other day and she was a bit tired from treatment but ok for the time being.
