His family remembering the 10th anniversary of his death
Tupac Shakur's mother plans to scatter her son's ashes in Soweto, South Africa, on a forthcoming trip to build relations between the Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation and South African president Nelson Mandela.
Tupac died in September 1996 from multiple gunshot wounds, and his murder remains unsolved. However, one positive was the establishment of the arts foundation by the rap stars mother - which provides training and assistance to underprivileged young people.
"I feel blessed to be able to visit South Africa, especially Soweto," Shakur said in a statement. "Events that happened there are so much a part of our history and it will be an honor for my son to rest in this special place--the birthplace of the South African struggle for democracy."
During the trip, from September 10-19, Shakur will scatter some of Tupac's ashes in Soweta.
