WASHINGTON - Sen. Joseph Biden (D-Del.) filed papers yesterday making him an official presidential candidate, and kicked off his campaign by apologizing for racially insensitive remarks about Sen. Barack Obama.
Biden drew scrutiny for calling Obama "the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy" in an interview with the New York Observer published yesterday.
The term "articulate" can cause offense because it implies that it's noteworthy that a black person speaks well.
By using the word "clean," Biden explained later, he meant only that Obama was "fresh" and "new." He said his choice of words was not meant to disparage other black candidates who might run for president.
Biden said: "I deeply regret any offense my remark in the New York Observer might have caused anyone. That was not my intent, and I expressed that to Senator Obama."
Also yesterday, President George W. Bush used the word "articulate" to describe Obama. "He's an attractive guy. He's articulate. I've been impressed with him when I've seen him in person, but he's got a long way to go to be president," Bush said on Fox News.

I think rich white people assume we all talk like Snoop Dogg or Flava Flav! So who should we be angrier with? Biden or the Black entertainers who perpetuate stereotypes?

BOTH! However the idiots like Flav are a small microcosm of the majority of us that are literate and articulate, have you noticed how the media will walk past 3 black people that are educated and find the most BAMA person they can interview, the media helps perpetuate the myth too!

People like Flava Flav may be in the minority when it comes to Black people as a whole, but they are in the majority when it comes to Black people in entertainment.
Black people do not watch shows with progressive articulate Black people. But clowns like Martin, Jamie Fox and Bernie Mac have ratings that are through the roof.
Personally, I don’t think that every time a white person gives a Black person a compliment that there is hidden racism involved. But if people are offended, they are entitled to feel that way.

I wouldn't say "everytime", but you have to admit the condesending attitute is prevelant, I'll give you an example. Last month I had to preach at a memorial service at the Psychiatric hospital I work at, I was the only black professional there, they had a guest church come and render music...a white church! After the ceromony the white choir leader complimented me on the sermon by saying "I wasn't expecting a teaching sermon" He had the biggest doo-doo eating grin. To make matters worst he proceded to aske me..."Oh do YOU have a Masters degree ", now everyone knows in order to get a paid chaplain job in a state facility you must have a Masters in Divinity or Ministry, his simple ass assumed I didn't have one. When I said I did, he walked away from me. Ohhhhh yeah MsBlaque I got a problem and I pray God helps me...I don't really care for white folks at times.

I don't care for them at times either.
But I also don't go looking for racism where they may not be any.
Call me naive...

I think rich white people assume we all talk like Snoop Dogg or Flava Flav! So who should we be angrier with? Biden or the Black entertainers who perpetuate stereotypes? Both groups of people are to blame...as well as parents.
