My oldest son has always been pretty good with his grades, but the past year or so he's come in with a D or F on it. The last report card wasn't looking good - so I told him, "I let you slide with these D's and not pull you off the dance team. But if that next card comes in here looking like this, you consider yourself pulled. Try me if you dare".
His report card came in as follows:
A A A- B+ D A C+
I fell out laughing. That boy know I wasn't playing with him and he wants to stay on that dance team with them late ass hours. LOL

If you don't follow through, he can always call your bluff down the road.

That is true but I meant what I said and if his grades, slip he's off.

Sounds like a good plan!

Some kids are interesting - you tell one of them "if you do xyz, abc will happen" and they listen. Then you got that one you tell that same thing too, and they continue to do "xyz". My oldest one will hear you - it's that middle one that has the hearing issues. Then when his priviledges are revoked, he gets mad. But you were warned. My oldest is very focused (sometimes too much) on his activities and the grades will slip. This was actually the worse his grades had ever looked, but I am glad he pulled them up. My goodness my oldest baby is graduating from HS next year!
