Are you in favor of them? What are the real benefits? What are the drawbacks?

No. because they costs the same as the regular clothes. The kids have no identity. And it's hard to get them the right size unless you go the first week they are out. Everyone wants the same size and they don't put them out like that

Are you in favor of them? What are the real benefits? What are the drawbacks? I'm for it. ESPECIALLY, where we are concerned, because we spend entirely too much many, trying to be DOWN ,with the latest styles!!! I never understood spending two hundred dollars on SNEAKERS!!!!!! or 300, on a Uniform (shirt or sweat shirt). I mean I'm for looking good, but I'm not breaking the bank, To do it!!! I mean the money spent, could be used to buy a COMPUTER!!! a TUTOR!!!!! a family VACATION!!!notice I said family!!! vacation!!! The money we blow to look good, ESPECIALLY< when you ain't gonna go anywhere, is just stupid!!!!

Dolphinfan, I agree with you. I tend to think that uniforms are a good idea too. I see some kids at bus stops looking like they are on their way to a club. Young ladies should not wear provocative clothes and young men shouldn't wear pants hanging off their behinds.
And I totally feel you when you talk about the amount of money that people spend. I use to work in this athletic shoe store a long time ago. I remember when the new Jordan's would come out, people would start lining up before the store opened so that they could be the first to buy their children these shoes that were close to $200. I try not to judge people but some of these families looked like the really shouldn't have been spending that type of money on shoes if you know what I mean. I remember one father who was rather disheveled. He came through my line but didn't have enough money. He looked at me and was like "This is all I have", it was so sad, so I adjusted the price so that he could get them. He wasn't trying to run a game on me, this man REALLY wanted these shoes for his son and to me he looked like he didn't know where his next meal was coming from.
I said all of that to say that uniforms will eliminate some of this.

I agree. if you can spend 500$ on one pair of shoes and a sweat shirt, but can't feed your family, or pay rent!, somethings wrong, DEAD WRONG!! and I could never understand, HOW, you could wear pants hanging halfway, down your azz, HOW DO THEY STAY UP? I never seen one fall off, but!!

That is a trend I wish would run it's course. I saw this guy the other day going into the grocery store...no shirt and his pants were all the way down past his ass. It was ridiculous. No one wants to see that.

I'm for uniforms, but some parents need to make sure the uniforms are the right size. Some kids' uniforms looks as if they are one or two sizes too small/big. The schools can do something about that too.

I think some people feel that if you buy them bigger that the uniforms will last for a longer period of time. I don't agree with that too. Uniforms should fit. One of the arguments for uniforms was that you will not be able to distinguish between the haves an the have-nots. I don't think that is true.

i think that more of a parent isse then that of the schools. No, the school/school board can mandate that the uniforms fit properly or the students can suffer consequences.

Uniforms will help, but the students are taking them off as soon as they get home and put on their other clothes.

No boy should have clothes too big and no girl should have tops that are too tight and skirts that are too short and tight as well as pants that are skintight.
