How much culture do you teach to your child/children or do you think should be taught?
I teach my children everyday to never be ashamed of their own culture because that is what makes all of us unique. Being from the Virgin Islands we speak with a Caribbean accent and I have heard from many how they love to hear it but even if they didn't I am proud of it because it make us a melting pot. I love teaching culture to my children and will continue to do so.

This is a good topic Cinnaroll. Unfortunately, I won't be able to teach my son to be proud of his race but I think it is very important for other parents to do so.
There are so many children's books with African American themes, and beautiful black dolls. We as parents should start early introducing these types of things to our children and then also teaching them about our culture.
This is a little off topic, but it burns me up to hear Black people complaining about having to work on Martin Luther King day, but don't take the time to teach their kids who the man was.

I understand what you are saying, because alot of these days that are set aside to honor our Black Hero's are just now look on as just another day. We need to remember if it wasn't for their struggling we wouldn't have many of these rights that we have today. Thank God for Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks, and the many others for keeping hope alive.

It's just too bad that we don't have leaders like that anymore.

I plan on letting my future children be aware of other cultures as well as be proud of who they are. It is all these different cultures that make our world so great.
