What safety precautions do you think schools should take with these random acts of violence towards our youth? Are your kids protected in their school?
Last week I went to my son's school and walked straight to his classroom instead of going to the front office.
No one stopped me and there were one or two random kids in the hall without supervision.
What should be done about this?

I've done it a few times myself. The problem is that they are looking for someone with the obvious... oh nothing much the gun toting, trench coat wearing WHITE MALE. Oh did I mention they never have announced the profile of these WHITE MALES between about 13-50 something? I wonder why?

If someone wants to kill you and have access to weapons, once they get pass the first line of defense, what can anybody do, but lock down the schools, as a precaution, while children are present. It's sad, but true.

I’m thinking there must be a way for people to leave the building but not enter.
And Cinna, you make a good point. If Black people were the ones committing the majority of school shootings I believe they would stop every Black person who entered the building.

It's sad, but true. One of our local high schools has a guard at the front entrance, the other high school has a guard at both the front and side entrances. That being said, if someone is loaded and determined to shoot the guards, they can blast their way in. Heck, just last week, at one of the county high schools, a boy was caught on the grounds with a gun, heading to the principal's office to get him cause the boy got suspended.
