What's a good age to leave children home alone?

Depends upon how long and if you can trust your child and of course the level of maturity. No child under 10 and I would venture to say about a 1/2 hour to an hour. It really depends upon the maturity and obedience level of the child. You would just have to know your kid.
Now in situations where folx don't have nor can afford a babysitter leave their toddlers and such alone all day where anything can happen during that 9/10 hour stretch. It is unacceptable I mean what are you working for?

I think I was left home alone starting 4th grade. However, my mom worked down the street from our house. I personally dont plan on leaving my child home alone until he is at least 13 or so. But who knows how I'll feel when the time comes.
