Apparently my 11 year old son got into a fight today. He attends a predominately white school and was called a NIGGER by one of the school's white students. I'm in the office with this boy's mama, and she told me..."You people call each other that all the time, I don't understand the problem." Man when I tell you it took all I had to keep from stompin the hell out this white lady. Firstly, I have issues with white people saying "You People" secondly, I could see the ignorance in this lady so I had to check my temper. Instead I turned to her and said.."you really need to stop watching MTV and BET. All black people do not address each other this way. I don't speak that way. Your son was out of line for even calling my son out his name. True my son shouldn't have hit him, but had the shoe been on the other foot and my son had called your son a Honkey...there would have been some hell raised." This is one dumb ass female cause again she said to me..." I really don't see the problem." Man the lord must've really been testing me today cause I swear I had steam coming out of my ears. Now I'm trying to figure out should I even punish my son for fighting, or if I'm punishing him for standing up for himself. I'm still on the fence with this one. What do y'all think?

I’m always amazed at the ignorance of people. I can NOT believe that this woman “didn’t see the problem”. I think you handled it perfectly. Getting angry, getting loud, and telling her about herself would have only played into the stereotypes that she obviously already has. But about your son, that’s a tough call. You have to do what you feel is best. I just think that we can’t react violently ever time someone calls us a name, no matter how hateful it may sound.
