Onipa-Abusia, an Akan traditional cultural organization in NYC & Washington, DC Presents -
A Durbar (Celebration) in Honor of 35 Years of The Akan Priesthood in America.
The traditional Akan priesthood and culture was established in the US by the late Nana Yao Opare Dinizulu I, founder of the Dinizulu African Dancers, Drummers, and Singers.
The Durbar will be held at Von Kin Park at Lafayette & Greene Ave (formerly Tompkins Park), between Marcy and Tompkins Ave in Bed Stuy, Brooklyn New York
Sunday July 23, 2006 1pm / Rain date: Saturday September 9, 2006
We invite everyone to help us celebrate this great occasion.
The Durbar will feature African Drumming, a parade of Akan priest, African Market,
(interested vendors, see details below), an Akom (traditional Akan worship service), and MORE.
ALL are welcome to join us in celebrating this glorious event.

**Onipa Abusia maintains and preserves the indigenous culture and tradition of the Akan people of Ghana, West Africa. Onipa follows the traditional ceremonies and rites of the Akan - Edin To (naming ceremonies), Ye Goro Bra, (adolescent female puberty rites), weddings, and Ayie (funeral) rites.
