2 Kings 4:6 and 7 - And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said to her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, [There is] not a vessel more. And the oil stayed.
Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, Go, sell the oil, and pay your debt, and live you and your children of the rest.
There stood this widow in her home - jars of oil everywhere! So, the Lord did a miracle, but yet her children were not saved just yet. She then went to the Lord again and He told her that she had to sell the oil. It was no good the Lord doing a miracle if she held onto it. She had to put her faith out yet again and sell it. God then provided the market for it and they were saved.
So now, you have looked to the Lord for a great outpouring of His Spirit and you have received an incredible revelation. You are so in awe and sit thinking of the great miracle the Lord has done, all the while holding onto the fullness of the oil. You dwell in the glory and wonder of it and say, "Wow, look what God can do! Look at what He has done in my life!"
But you can't stop there! You have to give it out. Holding the oil in your hand will not save the children of Christ. In your hand lies only the promise of what the Lord wants to do. The best thing about this is that like the widow, once you start giving out to the Body He will make sure that all you have received is poured out to those whom He will send to you. The widow didn't have a jar left, and so as you pour out, you will find how many of God's people are dry and hurt, needing just a taste of what you hold inside.
That widow sold all her jars of oil and had no hunger from then onwards. It is so tempting to sit and revel in the outpouring. It certainly is easy and you don't have to work at it, but the Lord wants more for you. The Lord has a bigger vision for you than to just have a little oil and a little blessing. He not only wants to multiply what you have, but He wants you to give it out so that He may take you to a higher level of blessing that lasts beyond the moment. As you give out so will you be blessed with a greater blessing.
The answer begins with a miracle. It is what you do with that miracle and outpouring that will determine how much further you can go and continue to grow and mature. Do not live in the moment, but look always to pour out what the Lord has blessed you with. Seeing His Kingdom extended is well worth the reward - and indeed the greater reward!
