Ela moyin Aboru, Aboye, Abosise, Maa keki n rin arin fi ese si, Maa je ki na sore fi enu ko: Guide my foot steps Prevent me from committing offense by the word of mouth.
One of the many elements of Ifa corpus that sanctions our behaviors in the world is that of things which come not from our mouth first but dwell within the confines of our thoughts.
This is where Ifa teachings begin to show us how we, as in ancient times must begin our commune with Divinity of Divine Creator Spirit-Olodumare.
Recently, a colleague and friend said to me, "that in order to reap the benefit of the Odu Ifa as it was committed in ancient times, was to first break-down the barriers that have been created by the mounting socialization and civilization that exist today".
For example: The toxin in the world 12,000 years ago were no where near the many poisons that are in the world now from man's disregard of nature; therefore the many illness(arun-ajogun) that are prevalent and invasive are factors that we must address. Another example is our minds have been conditioned over the centuries with doubt, lies, deceit, fear, creating barriers that keep us from our greatest destiny and our greatest accomplishments and prosperity.
We are what we think just as our elders of Ifa knew in those time to cross into Orun in the flesh was something that we could accomplish and return unharmed, or that we could truly find extrordinary wealth by exemplary character in a short period of time was feasible.
These Ancient Elders of Ifa also foresaw the need to present and preserve the road map-guidelines, if you will, to accomplishing this because they knew the difficulty we, their children would have with the changes that would be created in the world by those same said children.
Honesty and truthfulness in our thoughts are not just the goody-two-shoes, go to church thematic addresses to behaviors, to make people do the right things but formula's methaphysically designed to help us control of our thoughts to engage those forces needed to change our material conditions. You are what you believe yourselve to be.
[glow=red,2,300]Ifa gave me Oyeku Meji this morning:
An honest Sage is no longer in existence
A Truthful person is very rare indeed
When I no longer have any reliable persont o confide in
I choose to keep my thoughts within
Those are the declaration of the Ifa oracle to Ajao who
is being befriended by earthly being
He was asked to offer sacrifice
He complied
Alas, all the human beings seeking my friendship
I hearken not
My thoughts had been kept within me
All heavenly beings seeking my friendship
I am not interested in your friendship
I have kept my thoughts within me.
The council of deep thought is what one should keep is with your Ikin-your direct link with Olodumare and Ifa and Ori your destiny. [/glow]
Koko leegun iyan; siku leegun agbado; ka soro ka baa bee leegun otito:
The lump is the bone of the pounded yam; the cob is the bone of the maize; to speak and be found so after verification is the bone of truthfulness. A learned priest who at one point in time I admired, S. Sologbade Popoola wrote, "The truth will always remain the truth no matter the time of duration. It cannot be suppressed. The more it is suppressed, the more it rears it's head. For this reason therefore, let everybody be truthful.
These were not just philosophical and elusive poetry to motivate one's people. But serious internal "magical" if you one wants delusion, yet profound mechanism to hold your mind in a place, to change-transform, your perspective in spite of the social and cultural energies in the world that hold you physically and material hostage; in a place of malcontentment and unprosperous conditions.
Our Mouth's and what we utter give power to the thoughts we hold. It is the Ase of utterance that pronounces and seals our fate. It is what keeps us either victims of society or victors of Ifa. Our redemptive factor is choice.
Time has rendered mankind or yet to whom I speak the decendants of the Yoruba, the Omo Odudwa, as to what another person of Afrikana decent; the philosophies of Ayi Kwei Armah would say, " We, too, have been immune to calls of the flesh, calls to tired minds to give up thoughts of creation when all around has become a praise song to destruction.
"Against the testing hardness of life on paths to the way strong and sweet indeed to the blinded mind are the calls of despair, and often has our comtemplation of this present world and its arrangement lent heavy weight to such dispair." "Always to counter to dispair has been deeper contemplation of the universe, in contemplation bearing action."
In speaking to those healers of Ifa and devotees as well; I give to you another aspect of why we must respect the power of the mouth and train our people differently and concisely and this again comes from the philosophies of Ayi Kwai Armah:
"Our people have have forgot a lot of things in order to survive" "When you are still close to the past danger that threathen to wipe you out, remembrance pains you" "Forgetfulness helps cross over the time of the greatest pain. "But when forgetfulness is prolonged unnaurally, then it does not work towards health. It works towards death"
"A Healer needs to see beyond the present and tomorrow. He needs to see years and decades ahead. Because Healers work for results so firm they may not be wholly visible till centuries have flowed into millenia. Those willing to do this necessary work, They are the Healers of our people"
It is in our minds that our thoughts of healing must occur. It is in our mind that our social and cultural conditions and change must occur. It is in our mind that our spirituality must begin to excercise it prowess and power, that when we then dare to pronounce it edifications by mouth you will only feel and see its power.
