Clearly, happiness is NOT forbidden. "Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart," Psalm 37:4
Rejoice always 1 Thessalonians 5:16
Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials James 1:2These verses & hundreds like them say the same thing; God wants us to be happy. Happiness is not forbidden, so does that mean that happiness is mandatory? If something is not forbidden, yet for whatever reason we do not incorporate it into our lives, are we living the life that God wants us to live? For example. Let's say a person is always discontented. He or she is often down in the dumps about life and/or life's circumstances. Is he or she rejecting God's instructions? If something IS forbidden we obviously know not to do it. But just because something IS NOT forbidden, does that mean that we must do it? Are you still with me? What do you think?
