How do you feel about that phrase?
It seems that anytime a Black person talks about an injustice we are accused of "playing the race card". It implies that if we are trying to fight what we perceive as racism, or simply wish to discuss the issue, we are somehow being less than genuine.
I personally find the whole concept insulting.
What do you think? Is it possible for a Black person to "play the race card" or is it just another way others try to dismiss us?

Yes, I can see black folks playing the race card, especially when something doesn't go their way or what they're asking for is unwarranted or unjustified. I see the NAACP do it a lot as well as other black leaders and individuals.

I agree MsBlaque, white folks are the "new victims" now they don't want to hear about our "whining", I agree some of us use race as an excuse, but racism is STILL a reality in America!

Actually it depends upon how you use it. Sometimes you may have to whip it out when a certain injustice is being done. In some obvious instances what else could it be? New Orleans... what was that?
