This was a very interesting movie starring Vanessa Williams set in New Orleans before the Abolision of Slavery. It was amazing how the wives of the white or Frenchmen would allow them to have a Black woman, have children with them, put the women in mansions, dress them in the finest clothes....everythang. But the LAW forbided the french from marrying a Black Woman. The movie focused on many issues thatsurrounded Black folks in that day, including the emergence of the First Black Catholic Church.

This is an interesting subject. I am gonna check this movie out. You got me thinking of another movie it was called "The Feast of Saints" a book written by Anne Rice. I liked the movie basically because it had a lot of black actors in it try to find it check it out see what you think. It was set in the same era. I couldn't put the picture up I for some reason forgot how to do it but here is the link. www.imdb.com/title/tt0255730/
