Something I noticed about Chinese food here in Virginia. If you buy Chinese food in "the hood" the fried rice is brown and full of soy sauce. If you buy it any where else, the rice is yellow and is cooked with more vegetables.
They are all owned and operated by Asians I wonder why the urban areas make theirs differently?
I know someone who will drive downtown for Chinese food because of the way they cook it down there.
Has anyone else noticed that in your area?

It could be either of a few things... They feel blacks don't know the difference or they may have done their homework (which I doubt) and figured blacks prefer soy sauce as the base. Or they are just being cheap. The chinese restaurants in my area are frequented by all races and there are three that I can think of that serves the brown rice that you speak of. I can only think of two that has yellow.
In conclusion I think here it depends upon who is making the recipe for the specific restaurant. There is American chinese food and there is more authentic chinese food I actually prefer the authentic but either way to me if they have a good menu it doesn't matter. There is a chinese grill here that I like and they give you alot of rice and it's brown but the food is good.

I've tasted both types. I prefer the darker rice.

I think, it depends on who's cooking. I had both in the hood.
