I wonder if Black men are really putting this much thought into the way they behave? Some, maybe but for the most part, men as well as women simply act the way that they act. If a man dresses conservatively and speaks in a non-threatening way, I would think that has more to do with how he was raised and less to do with not wanting to threaten white people. It seems like the article suggests that some men tried to suppress certain mannerisms and ways of speaking so that others will perceive them in a positive way. I'd like to hear what the brothers on this board think about it.
