Hmm. He better deflect those notions of him possibly becoming a candidate for presidency..no need in getting death threats so early in the game...
But regardless of what he hasn't done in far as MAJOR impact, at least his hands are clean...so far so good. There is NO perfect president, so why not give Barrack a shot? He can't mess things up no worse than they already are...at least he will strive to give the people POSITIVE and MORALLY correct results..

I don't think he has enough experience, but then again that might be a good thing. Like Chi said, his hands are clean. Maybe the fact that he is somewhat of an innocent could work for him. I think we are all in agreement that this country needs a change. Personally, I don't think he has a snowballs chance in hell at becoming President, but I'd vote for him.

I think the first Black President will have to be a Republican. That's the only way he'll get a majority vote. A lot of right fringe radicals will stay home on election day. But, a lot of left wingers will vote for him just because he's Black. That leaves it an honest (term used loosely) fight for the middle, just like in every other election.

I know Colin Powell said he wouldn't run, so it won't be him. Although, he's a good example of what I was trying to point out. Colin Powell would have won. He could've beat almost anyone. The middle would have bought him... hook, line, and sinker.

A republican, who? Colin Powell has said he will not run. Before Katrina, I said Condolezza RICE, and agree with BV. The Democrats do not have it together!!!. I think there will be a clean out, of both party's!!!. I not sure if the republicans can hold on, to power, But the democrats, haven't done DITTOLLY, to impress me!! And as far as OBAMA is concerned. If Hilary runs, and Condolezza, runs for office too. I think it would make sense to have A black man split the Vote!!!. I don't think it's enough to win, but it makes sense to me!!. Think of it in theses terms. The republican party already has the BIG Black churches!!!! and most of them are middle and upper income family's!! and most of them VOTE!!!!. Outside of Iraq and (Katrina ) Bush himself!!!!!!1. She really hasn't done anything wrong, plus if you notice, she has changed her hair, make-up, and regardless of her affiliation, she's a good speaker!!!. And Black, and perceived as a conservative!!!, even tho i think she's a lesbian!!!!!. Most other black folks ain't voting or paying attention!!!. The Democrats, are now going after that Conservative Vote!!! white and Black, hoping for black lash votes!!!! but outside of a couple of speeches. haven't done a thing. Barack is just bait, encase they get some of the conservative vote, and a black face!!!. Obama hasn't done anything, outside of getting to office with Oprah's Money!!!. I rather see Tavis Smiley run!!! at least he would be entertaining!! to listen too!!!

But, a lot of left wingers will vote for him just because he's Black. That leaves it an honest (term used loosely) fight for the middle, just like in every other election. Not exactly!!! The plain fact is, whites(republican and democrat) will not support any black man for such a high office. We had a situation here in Georgia during the race to replace Zell Miller's senate seat which pitted a well known african-american against a well known white candidate. Both were qualified but the black candidate had always been asked to run for seats other black candidates were seeking. But in this case, the republican party not only didn't support, they went out of their way to denounce him(LIED ABOUT HIM). They were some whites who admitted their reasoning for not voting for him were racial, while others beat around the bush but let you know their reason was the same. Quite frankly, I wasn't surprised. Keep in mind we really arent that far from the jim crow era and even today in the far reaches of Alabama, Mississippi and even Georgia, time has stood still. If you want to know what I' talking about, come to Greene County, Georgia and it will be quite evident.

Colin Powell WAS our last best hope! But the GOP wouldn't back him because he is for Affirmative Action THAT was his undoing!

I did say that the term "honestly" was used loosely. How can you state this as a plain fact when it's never been tried? All you need to do is look at races for statewide and national offices state to state. I've already mentioned the State of Georgia but that was only one race. We had many others with the same circumstances and results. You could do a state by state and the same would apply. Look at the US senate. Yes you have Obama there now but how many african-american US senators have we had say over the last 45 years compared to our population growth?? Yes, we did have an african-america governor in Virginia and I believe we now have a Lt. Gov in Maryland but when you look at the totality of voting patterns, you can't deny that the candidate(s) the majority of African-Americans vote for, whites vote against. Now why do you think that happens??

You said... The plain fact is, whites(republican and democrat) will not support any black man for such a high office. Then, you said... Look at the US senate. Yes you have Obama there now but how many african-american US senators have we had say over the last 45 years compared to our population growth?? Yes, we did have an african-america governor in Virginia and I believe we now have a Lt. Gov in Maryland Now, I'm sure if you asked someone 45 years ago if there would ever be a Black Senator, Black LT. Governor in Maryland or a Black Governor in Virginia (of all places) they would've said you were crazy. They would've said the same thing that you said, "Whites will not support a Black man for such a high office". But, you're own examples refute that claim. I understand you're point and I acknowledge that getting White people to vote for a Black candidate is an uphill battle (which is why I said it would need to be a Republican). But, it is far from impossible. History has proved this over and over again. Unless you've got a crystal ball that refutes history, I think it's silly to say never.
