Kujichagulia (koo'jee'chah'goo'LEE'uh) / Self-Determination
Kujichagulia requires that we define our common interests. Like our ancestors, we must be independent, strong-willed and in charge of our own destiny as individuals, as families and as a united community. Self-Determination is celebrated on the second day of the festival.

Don't know if I ever posted this, but this speaks somewhat of self determination, I wrote this maybe a couple years back Love Osunkoya-Ifayomi
This is a sketch of my outline and plans and goals.
This may not be in the order in which I hope to perpetuate, but these are some of my ideas. One of the things I propose is that we have our own govt. system. I also need to preface these goals if you will that they are long term they will not happen over night. I also propose that we need a national platform, because for these things to happen they need to happen on a nation wide scale. I do somewhat look to the coming elections but lets face it, this govt. has done relatively nothing for us up to this point so why believe they will now? What I see is a slave master relationship, where we depend on them and fall in line to their biddings. The problems we have as a people are only going to be fixed by us as a people. When I spoke of our own govt. system, I was speaking of a council of wise trustworthy men and women who are elected by us to represent us in matters involving or communities. This should be done in every black community in the united states. I also propose that as we organize it should be stated what are purposes and goals are. That is to organize our people to be self governed and self sufficient in all matters. As we get a platform I propose that we go to every wealthy black person in the US, not for donations but for investments. I propose that they work together a pool their resources, to open Black owned businesses in our communities, not chicken shacks, but grocery store chains nationwide in the black communities that can compete with all the major food store chains in America. Not only food store chains, but department store chains as well. We also need to develop businesses such as screw machine parts that can compete with other businesses as such to get contracts for companies such as black and decker, Maytag, and various other businesses that rely on these types of products. There are some Black owned development companies that should be awarded to bids etc. to build these places of businesses. My reason for going to the wealthy black people in America is because they have the means and resources. We are not asking for a handout as these places of business, will bring them profit but will provide jobs for us. We would even have them set up their own board members and accountants so they could keep track of there profits and losses. We would however ask that some would be set aside for community centers, where young and old could go to learn, we would ask that they would put money into education at these community centers for computers, and academic learning. And seeing that these would be not for profit organizations they would be tax write offs for them. I also propose that those of us who are somewhat compassionate, go to our youth who are wasting away in the streets and find out what it is they want to do in life, and then find the means to fund their education so that they can achieve their goals. Again I say we have to help ourselves the US govt. is not going to do this, now I am not simple enough not to realize that there are some programs in place already we need to know what they are and we need to make use of them. These are not all my thoughts only some. But we need to organize we need a platform, but first we need to organize. One we get somewhat organized, my goal is to use the media to reach as many people as possible. I will be contacting people such as Oprah, Montel, anyone who will give us air time. But the main thing is getting started getting a base or bases of operation. Again there is more to come these are just some points I wanted to bring up. So you can see what direction I intend to go in. thank you. Written by Osunkoya-Ifayomi
