Anyone interested in reading The Purpose Driven life and discussing it chapter by chapter?
I've read it before but I just started re-reading it.

I will re-read it with you, I really loved this book, it has been criticized by some clergy though.

CHAPTER ONE: IT ALL STARTS WITH GOD
First let me just say that I loved this book. I can't think of a better time than the start of the new year to re-read it.
The very first sentence pretty much says it all:
It's not about you.
That's something that we all need to tell ourselves each and every day.
This chapter is basically about life's meaning and our purpose. I think those are questions that most people ask themselves and struggle with...at least I do.
What is my purpose for being here? How can I make a difference. What am I really passionate about?
This chapter tells us that It is only through God that we discover our origin, our identity, our meaning, our purpose, or significance, and our destiny.
It reads: Every other path leads to a dead end.
That's powerful.

I agree I think the "Not about you statement is the key, I really wish I could give more of myself to the purpose and plan of God, I think re-reading this will help me. I feel like I have gotten of the path somewhat.

CHAPTER TWO: YOU ARE NOT AN ACCIDENT
Long before you were conceived by your parents, you were conceived in the mind of God.
I really enjoyed this chapter because the first time I read it, it made me come to terms in regards to becoming pregnant by my son's father.
I use to think of it not as a mistake, but a lapse in judgment on my part.
But this chapter is a reminder that God had a plan for my son and who his parents would be.
God never does anything by accident and the union between my son's father and I was not an accident.
That's the main thing that I got from reading chapter 2.

Long before you were conceived by your parents, you were conceived in the mind of God.
This is really hits home for me because I was raised to feel like i was a "mistake", my father didn't want me and often my mom made me feel like I owed her something for raising me and ruining her life. I really admire you in this regard because motherhood is so important in the shaping of a child, God has a plan for all of us.
I guess this is why I think abortion is so wrong my mother later told me she contemplated aborting me and she said she was so glad she didn't, I believe ultimately the devil wants to abort our dreams and goals in this life by discouraging us and making us feel like we are not wanted or needed by God.

Where is God Leading Me?
Trust GOD from the bottom of your heart;don't try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for GOD's voice in everything you do, everywhere you go;he's the one who will keep you on track. Prov 3:5-6 (Msg)
Life purpose statements are steps of faith in each area of your life in which you feel God nudging you to either BE (character development) or DO (SHAPE deployment), and you know you could not fulfill them without Him. Think of these statements as opportunities to become all that God has made you to be so that you can bless Him with your life.
There are four main areas of your life for which you will develop life statements: personal, spiritual, vocational, relational.
Personal Life This is the area of self; Character, Core Values, Strengths, Weaknesses, Hobbies, Health, Rest, Diet, etc.
Spiritual Life This is the area of your faith; Service, Stewardship, Prayer, Evangelism, Worship, and Life Purpose.
Vocational Life This is the area of your career/work/specialties; From Marketplace member to Homemaker.
Relational Life This is the area of fellowship; Friends, Family, Parenting, Marriage, Dating, Community.
Please don't rush. Take the time to reflect and prayerfully craft each statement. Have fun and take big steps of faith!
