Eleanor Holmes Norton: The only way to make sure people you agree with can speak is to support the rights of people you don't agree with.
We on The Blaque Experience have developed tolerance and if we haven't we will because in order to build a community we must be able to accept the difference of each other. We are all individuals and we are unique.

Weekly inspiration for week of July 17th"It's not my job" "As we have the opportunity, let us do good to all." Galatians 6:10. Have you ever been asked to complete a task that requires you to go beyond your current responsibilities? Was your quick response, "that's not my job"? Come on admit it. I've done it on a few occasions. Why is it that we complain when we are asked to do an inch more than expected? Now, just think about the requests you have asked of God, would it be fine for him to respond in the same manner after you have gone to him for assistance? That doesn't even sound right, does it? God is not going to leave you hanging or forsake your cry for help. We should follow the same rules when it comes to helping each other. If you are employed at a company that has been drastically downsized and you are asked to complete an extra task, don't think of it as being a burden, look at it as God giving you more to do in order to get your promotion. You are being tested. God is looking for your response to a simple task, which many of us fail time and time again not because we are not prepared but because of selfish reasons. It's time to stop being selfish and go above and beyond of what's expected. Who knows, you may find a sweet reward on the other side but if you don't at least you can feel good in knowing that you are pleasing HIM through your actions. Have a blessed week!!! Helen Keller: When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us.

"It is a peculiar sensation, this double-consciousness, this sense of always looking at one's self through the eyes of others. . . . One ever feels his twoness, an American, a Negro; two souls, two thoughts, two unreconciled strivings; two warring ideals in one dark body, whose dogged strength alone keeps it from being torn asunder."
W.E.B. Du Bois

Serge Kahili King:
We are all connected to everyone and everything in the universe. Therefore, everything one does as an individual affects the whole. All thoughts, words, images, prayers, blessings, and deeds are listened to by all that is.

A human being is a part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.
Albert Einstein

"If you are unhappy with anything... whatever is bringing you down, get rid of it. Because you'll find that when you are free, your true creativity, your true self comes out."
~ Tina Turner
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous?' Actually, who are not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing so enlightening about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you."
~ Nelson Mandella
“You can complain because roses have thorns, or you can rejoice because thorns have roses.”
~ ZIGGY
"There is always something to do. There are hungry people to feed, naked people to clothe, sick people to comfort and make well. And while I don't expect you to save the world I do think it's not asking too much for you to love those with whom you sleep, share the happiness of those whom you call friend, engage those among you who are visionary and remove from your live those who offer you depression, despair and disrespect.
~ Nikki Giovanni

Helen Keller:
Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, vision cleared, ambition inspired, and success achieved.

C. Wright Mills:
Freedom is not merely the opportunity to do as one pleases; neither is it merely the opportunity to choose between set alternatives. Freedom is, first of all, the chance to formulate the available choices, to argue over them -- and then, the opportunity to choose.
