What's the most important lesson that you've learned thus far? Don't trust anything that bleeds for 7 days and doesn't die. Just kidding... ;D The most important lesson I've learned thus far is that we all set our own standards. By accepting or rewarding certain types of behavior, we teach people how to treat us. No one can control you or change you... except for you.

Describe the "best" date you ever had with a young lady. The best date I ever had... I took her to a pool hall. We shot pool for a few hours, then we went to dinner. We had a great time. I won't give anymore details except... I got home at about 10 the next morning.

Who are you in the face of disappointment? I don't think I understand your question. I'm always myself... even in disappointment. How do you handle it?

I don't think I understand your question. I'm always myself... even in disappointment. How do you handle it? One of two ways... Either I get drunk, or I go to the gym and lift weights. The older I get... I do less drinking and more lifting.

Viking, tell me about the last book you read. I'm currently reading two books... "Race, Crime, and the Law" by Randall Kennedy "The Covenant with Black America" written by many people, edited by Tavis Smiley The CBA highlights many of the issues African Americans face today, as well as suggesting solutions on individual and communal scales. I consider it a must read for all African Americans. Even if none of the info. is a surprise, it's good to be versed on the current specifics of the struggle. Race, Crime, and the Law is much more specific to African Americans history with the justice system, and how our current relationship with it came to be. I'm really enjoying this book (I'm a history buff anyway). All Americans have a general disconnect with history, which is why we have such a hard time understanding why things are the way they are now. This is especially true with the justice system. To sum it up... the law was our enemy for 400 years. Only in the last two generations has our relationship with the law moved in a more amicable direction, and that movement has been slow and fraught with setbacks. Therefore, no one should be surprised that the African American community's relationship with the legal system and those that operate/support it is less than perfect.

I saw were you said that you were reading Covenant with black America. I think it's a GREAT Idea, but a very boring read. and I like MANUEL'S. I was wondering have you ever read books by Dr. Cornel West, if not they are Excellent, to me he does a far better job of EXPLAINING our problems, then The Covenant( I know he's apart of it). And what we need to be doing, and he doesn't sit back and JUST attack, he ADDRESSES, the Issues. I have Race Matters!!!! (excellent read) and Democracy Matters!!!. if you haven't Read any of his books already, I promise you, especially a problem solver like your self, that if you read him, you will NOT be Bored, you will be CHALLENGED, by his thoughts. I tried to go see him in PHILLY last year, but couldn't get off in time, but the next time, he's near, I'm going!!!
