I really love the beach, I grew up near the beach and I had some great memories there, my dillema is that is another of many things my wife and I DON'T have in common, she hates the beach....She says the beach is a "white thing" I don't see it like that, or is it true that Black folks don't do the beach? When I went to Hawaii I didn't want to leave. 24/7 Beach is my dream!

I love the beach too. To me there is something very beautiful and sacred about an ocean view. And at night, it's even better. But if you are talking about going to the beach to lay around in the sun or getting in the water? No, I don't know many Black people who do those sort of things.

I love to swim so I guess that is another reason, my brother was a Life Guard, in fact he was the ONLY Black Life Guard on the whole beach.

I don't swim, but I would like to learn. I wouldn't dream of swimming in the ocen, but I'd like to go to a pool and swim if I knew how.

If I lived close to you I would teach you it is really easy once you overcome the initial nervousness, The YWCA give lessons for a very cheap fee sometimes free.

I thought about the YMCA. Maybe I'll look into it.

I live like 5 minutes from our beach/lake and in the summer there are tons of people at the beach including black folks. I love the beach, especially being able to go there at sunrise with my breakfast and watch the sun come up. Love it!!!

I've seen plenty of black folks at the beach I love to wade out in the water but not past my knees. I have a fear of drowning since I cant swim can I get swimming lessons too?

I spent part of my childhood growing up along the Missisisppi Gulf Coast. I went to the beach every chance I get. Whenever I head down there, I always cruise along US 90 and pull over to enjoy the scenery.
When they clean the beach up, I'll be heading back.

Every time you turn around they are closing the beach because the water is contaminated. You couldn't pay me to put any part of my body in the ocean.

Katrina messed up the Mississippi beaches. All the debris needs to be taken out of the sand and the water.
